A competition between the Town of Wallkill and Middletown Little Leagues will result in a new, solar-powered scoreboard, donated by Middletown Honda, for the winner. People can vote for one of the two leagues on Middletown Honda's Facebook page. TOWN OF WALLKILL — A free baseball scoreboard is in the future for the Little League of either Middletown or the Town of Wallkill — courtesy of Middletown Honda.
People can vote on Middletown Honda's Facebook page until May 31; the scoreboard will go to whichever community gets the most votes.
The scoreboard will be solar-powered — the same design as one that the dealership recently donated to the Goshen Little League, said Middletown Honda General Manager Stu Berkley.
Only a few of the dozen or so Little League fields in Middletown and Wallkill have working scoreboards; the others either don't have scoreboards at all, or have ones that don't work.
The winning community would decide where the scoreboard would go.
If Wallkill wins, it would probably go in Major Boys field, said town Supervisor Dan Depew. The scoreboard would likely go up by summer, Berkley said.
